“To everything there is a season, and a time for every purpose under heaven. A time to get, and a time to lose. A time to keep, and a time to cast away. A time to rend, and a time to sew.”
Those words, pulled from Ecclesiastes 3:1, flashed upon my darkened screen when I started Steve Bannon’s documentary, “Generation Zero.”
Generation Zero is a colorful and dramatic brocade of theories pulled from a book by William Strauss and Neil Howe titled, The Fourth Turning: An American Prophecy.
History, the authors posit in the book, is comprised of 80-to-100 year cycles called “saecula.” This idea of cyclical societies, pulled from the Ancient Greeks, says that at each saecula’s end is an “ekpyrosis” — a proverbial burning of the crops to make way for a new order.
