Yes, Christianity has indeed grappled with these things. Christianity discarded them hundreds of years ago. Never mind that there is plenty of controversy over the Crusades themselves; how convenient to forget the various Muslim “crusades” of the same period and preceding Caliphates (Mongol invasions anyone?) or the Ottoman empire that followed.
